As lead singer of The Who, Roger Daltrey provided lead vocals for “My Generation,” the 1965 anthem which is considered to be the most famous of the many rock songs with stuttering vocals.

Saadiq Wicks

At just 9 years old, Saadiq Wicks started his foundation Lllet Me Finish. By age 13, he was on his way to becoming a published author. Now he’s working on a sequel to his book When Oliver Speaks while finishing his junior year of high school.

Kimberly Garvin

Kimberly Garvin is a 5^th grade English teacher, manager of her son’s non-profit Lllet Me Finish, and a published author of both adult fiction and children’s literature. Kimberly is a mother of two, Sydni who lives in Atlanta, and Saadiq who lives with her (and Charlie Brown, their dog) in New Jersey.

Francine du Plessix Gray

Francine du Plessix Gray was a French-American writer known for being a “Jane of all trades,” writing everything from fiction to reports to literary essays and numerous biographies. However, she was never fond of this title. In a 1982 piece with The New York Times Book Review in which she was tasked with describing her development as a writer, Mrs. Gray provided a harsh self-assessment.

Bill Withers

While Bill Withers has long been on the Stuttering Foundation's list of Famous People Who Stutter, many people probably didn’t realize he stuttered. He passed away on March 30, 2020.

Born in 1938 in Slab Fork, W.V., Withers was the youngest of six children. When his father died when Withers was small, he was raised by his mother and grandmother, both of whom worked as domestics.

Lewis Carroll

The recent Disney version of Lewis Carroll’s classic, Alice in Wonderland, garnered a great deal of media hype. Even though the mainstream media has not made mention that Carroll was a person who stuttered, his family history gives credence to the discovery of the genetic link to stuttering. Carroll was born to parents who were first cousins; almost all of their eleven children, three girls and seven boys, struggled with stuttering past childhood.

Mel Tillis

Mel Tillis, born Lonnie Melvin Tillis, was an influential figure in country music, both as a songwriter and a performer. His journey to fame was marked by overcoming personal challenges, including a stutter that he turned into a defining part of his public persona.

Kenyon Martin

Kenyon Martin, the basketball sensation who was named to the NBA’s All Star Team in 2004, joins other famous people who stutter in a new brochure. The brochure - which unfolds into a small poster - is available free of charge from The Stuttering Foundation.

The poster is intended to give children and adults who stutter inspiration as they grapple with their speech disorder.

Frank Wolf

This Virginian congressman has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1981. The longtime supporter of the Stuttering Foundation drew national attention to childhood stuttering in 2006 when he submitted an article about Tiger Woods from the SFA newsletter to the Congressional Record. The congressman is featured in the Stuttering Foundation's Famous People Who Stutter brochure.
